001. video
[ When the video flickers on, there's a Piplup face taking up the whole screen. And there's a voice not too far away--the Piplup jumps when it becomes louder. ]
You've got a lot of explaining to do, young man! [ The Piplup moves away from the camera. Standing not too far off is a young woman with pink hair. ] Stealing someone's bag? You should be ashamed of yourself! Now, return it to me and apologize. [ Cue the culprit--a young boy--sheepishly handing over the bag. There's a quiet apology, barely audible. Serah softens, though, just a tiny bit. She slings the bag over her shoulder and sets her hands on her hips. ] I thought your mother would teach you better than that. [ Her voice is still stern, but at least she's not yelling. ] Now, why don't you tell me why you felt the need to steal?
[ And the kid launches into an explanation. Serah kneels down during the whole thing, nodding every so often--she's dealt with naughty children, she's got enough experience with them to know what to do. When he's finished, Serah straightens up. ]
Alright, why don't you run off? I'll be telling your mother about this, okay?
[ The kid runs off. Serah makes a note to visit the kid's mom when she has a chance--while she'd lectured the kid, she should tell his mother. Maybe he'll have learned his lesson then.
It's at that moment that she notices her gear is on, and her eyes widen in surprise. She looks at the Piplup, which... suddenly looks very scared. Instead, she looks downright impressed. ]
Well, look at you! Aren't you a smart boy? I can't believe you figured out how to turn that on! [ Serah sits down, cross-legged, and pulls the Piplup close. At least the penguin doesn't look completely terrified. ] Looks like you've got a lot more tricks than I thought, Snow. [ And because the camera's on, she can't help it. She waves, and it's with a smile that she starts talking. ]
Hi. I was wondering--might anyone have any information about this place? I didn't really get a whole lot of information from "Mom." If anyone can help me, that'd be great. Thanks in advance!

Sure, I don't mind explaining things about this place! Is there anything specific you want to know? It'd be easier if we have a topic to start with.

Going back to Pokemon, if you have the Fly HM, you can teach it to your flying types and have them carry you to other places. Breeders can fly freely, but trainers need to earn a badge for that right.
Badges. So training these little guys is a definite must. [ Not like that was an issue! ]
And that's right. Even if you're not aiming for the badges, training your Pokemon is still important. [For exercising and self defense.]
I'll keep that in mind. Snow seems like he's raring for a fight, anyway.
[ She turns the video to Snow, who's on the floor of her room attempting to... punch things. With those little penguin arms. ]
[Fashion isn't his thing, so he like Celadon for other stuff. He looks at Snow on the screen, feeling himself smiling at him.]
He sure is eager! If he keeps that up, he'll go a long way in battles.
[ Snow waves his little arms at the video. HI THERE. ]
If he's anything like the guy I named him after, definitely. Let's hope my sister warms up to him better than his namesake.
[He gives Snow a wave back. Hi, there.]
...Your sister? [Hm... looking at Serah again, she does seem to resemble someone.] If you don't mind me asking, are you related to Lightning?
[ Snow lets out quite a few happy squeaks. ]
Oh, you know Lightning? Yeah, she's my sister!
[And he's a city boy at heart, so maybe he's biased.]
And yep! I met her here. I can see the resemblances between you two.
[Just some, plus Serah actually smiles.]
[ Serah prefers smaller towns, but hey; she's not discriminatory. ]
I guess we do look pretty alike! Surprisingly, from what I've heard, a lot of people have met Lightning but no one's really commented on it.
[ Anyway, Serah thinks Lightning is way prettier than she is; it's not that Serah's self-conscious, really, it's just that she knows out of the two of them, she's definitely more cute than gorgeous. ]
[It's a nice break from the almost mundane feeling every day monotony, between the occasional shenanigans.]
Maybe they don't want to jump the gun? Or they just prefer talking about other things first.
[ Yeah, Serah's definitely the type to enjoy stuff like that. It's one of the reasons she loves history so much! ]
You do have a point. [ There's a pause for a brief moment. ] She's been doing alright, hasn't she? You've been here with her longer than I have.
[If she does, Atsuro expected that she won't simply broadcast it over the network. Especially as she doesn't know him.]
I'm Serah, by the way.
[After Lightning, he almost expected Serah to have a similiarly themed name. Like... he don't know, Rain?]
I hope you have fun here and that you meet up with Lightning soon.
[ She pans the camera around her little room on the ferry. ]
Yeah, I'm headed her way right now. We couldn't wait anymore. [ A sheepish laugh when she turns the camera back to herself. ] I guess I'm still really impatient, though.
Maybe, but I can't really blame you! Many people would want to meet up with their friends and families as soon as they can. [That room... He never used the ferry before, so the decor's lost on him.] So where are you at now? An inn or the ferry?
[If Serah mentioned "Mom", she can't be that far from New Bark.]
Yeah, I'm not sure I can blame them, either. Right now, I'm on the ferry. We're about to depart, I think.
[Outside of flying and taking the bullet train, most travels usually take a few days in his experience.]
[He gives her a nod.]
There's the express train between Goldenrod and Saffron City. The ticket price is a bit pricy, but the trip is about six hours long.
